Jorge Seabra

He is a Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra where he teaches subjects such as cinema in the area of Artistic Studies. Since the early 1990s he has done research on the relationship between cinema, memory and identity, particularly in relation to the Portuguese Colonial Empire, having produced a Master’s thesis (1993), a doctoral dissertation (2007) as well as publishing many works and conference papers on this same theme.

He is currently engaged in a research project on the discourse of power in the Republic and the Estado Novo relative to cinema, from which a thematic dictionary will be produced, with the support of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
