Paulo Filipe Monteiro

He teaches Drama, Cinema and Fiction in the Communication Sciences Department at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon. His research is affiliated with the Nova Institute of Philosophy.
He has published numerous articles and five books, the latest being: Drama e Comunicação [“Drama and Communication”], published by Coimbra University Press, which won the Joaquim de Carvalho Prize. He has taken part in conferences and workshops at universities in Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, England, Ireland, Brazil and the United States of America.
He has held positions as a Assistant Professor at the Universities of Coimbra, Évora, Santiago de Compostela and Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) in addition to being a former President of the Portuguese Association of Scriptwriters and Playwrights, and a founding member of the Federation of European Scriptwriters.
He has also remained constantly active in the creative arts: in the theatre as a playwright, actor and stage director, and in the cinema and in television as a screenwriter, actor and more recently as a director.
