Pilar Gómez Cardó

Pilar Gómez Cardó is Professor of Greek Studies at the University of Barcelona, where she has been teaching and conducting research in 1981. She obtained a PhD in Classical Philology in 1987, with a thesis on the iambic tradition and fable (La Vida d’Isop entre el iambe, la faula i la novel•la), and is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on the Greek literature of the Roman Imperial period, especially on the Second Sophistic and the novel. She has studied mainly writers like Lucian (collaborating in the edition and translation of his works into Spanish for the Alma Mater collection), Plutarch, Dio of Prusa and Aelius Aristides. She is a member of the research group Graecia Capta of the University of Barcelona.
