Susana Lobo

She took her architecture degree via the Architecture Department at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra, where between 1998 and 2002 and under the guidance of Professor Raúl Hestnes Ferreira she taught the subject “Project I.” She is currently working on her doctoral thesis

at the University of Coimbra, supervised by Professor José António Bandeirinha (FCTUC) and Professor Ana Tostões (IST-UTL). She has a grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

She took part in the DOCOMOMO Foundation Iberian Conference, which took place in Valencia in November 2003 under the theme “Modern Architecture and Tourism: 1925-1965” where she gave a talk entitled “Pousadas de Portugal: um projecto modern” [“Portuguese Heritage Inns: a modern project”], and collaborated in the catalogue for the exhibition Arquitectura Moderna Portuguesa: 1920-1970 (MC-IPPAR, 2004) [Modern Portuguese Architecture: 1920-1970”] which included her article entitled “1942-2002: 60 anos de Pousadas” [“1942-2002: sixty years of Portuguese Heritage Inns”]. She contributed to the journal, Revista de Cultura Arquitectónica do Departamento de Arquitectura da Universidade do Minho, Laura: crítica, (DAUM, Outubro 2005), published by the Architecture Department at the University of Minho which included her article, “Pousadas S.O.S.” [“S.O.S. Portuguese Heritage Inns”].
