Teresa Magalhães

She was born in Porto in 1962. She is a forensic doctor, with a PhD in Medical Sociology and serving as an Associate Professor. She is the director of the Northern Delegation of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine and she is a Guest Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto. She has dedicated a great deal of her research efforts to the expert assessment of victims of violence in addition to teaching, training and research in this area. She coordinates a professional course on the abuse of children and teenagers and has published work on the topic, both on a national and international level. Amongst this work there are two books on children and teenagers as victims of mistreatment and domestic violence.
