The University of Coimbra is among the best in the world in the QS Ranking
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has just published its World University Rankings (WUR) and the University of Coimbra (UC) is again in the top 500 of this prestigious ranking.
In this 15th edition of WUR 4763 institutions from 151 countries were evaluated, out of which 1000 are mentioned in the ranking. UC occupies the position 407, having improved its performance, when compared with the previous edition, in 4 of the 6 analysed indicators.
We highlight the result obtained in the indicator “International Students” in which the University of Coimbra is positioned as the best Portuguese institution and as one of the 275 best institutions in the world.
The indicators evaluated in the QS WUR are: “Academic Reputation”, which analyses the perception of teachers/ researchers across the world about the best research institutions; “Employer Reputation”, which analyses the perception of employers across the world about the institutions that train the best professionals; “Faculty Student”, which register the ratio between the number of teachers and the number of students; “Citations per Faculty”, which evaluates the average number of citations per teacher/ researcher; “International Faculty”, which refers to the proportion of international teachers/ researchers; and “International Students”, which refers to the proportion of foreign students.
These results strengthen the good performance of the University of Coimbra in the several international rankings. Last February, UC obtained 5 stars from the QS Stars Ratings, in May it entered again the top 500 of CWUR (Center for World University Rankings) and scored “very good” (the maximum classification) in the different U-Multirank indicators, namely in the areas of research, knowledge transfer and internationalization.
