The EIT Health program - supported by the European Commission and the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) - is one of the most comprehensive and important worldwide initiatives in the healthcare field. The main goal is to promote a healthier sustainable lifestyle fostering the well-being of all Europeans through three main pillars: strengthening healthcare systems in Europe, promoting better health of citizens and contributing to a sustainable health economy in Europe.
The EIT Health members are the most important pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, the most outstanding universities in the area of life sciences, and the most renowned European research institutions.
The regional structure of the EIT Health consortium is extended across the Europe, based in Munich (Germany). EIT Health is using six centers: London (United Kingdom / Ireland), Stockholm (Scandinavia), Barcelona (Spain), Paris (France), Mannheim and Heidelberg (Germany / Switzerland), and Rotterdam (Belgium / Netherlands). All of these centers are defined according to the EU Innovation Scorecard indicators, classified as high innovation performers.
