Benito del Castillo Garcia, director of the Laboratory of Instrumental Techniques in Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Complutense University of Madrid, is a renowned academic and researcher who has concentrated his activity in the field of fluorescence molecular spectroscopy.

Born in Burgos on July 26, 1946, Benito del Castillo Garcia obtained a degree in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid (1970), where he would also complete his PhD (1975). He has been president of the National Conference of Rectors of the Faculties of Pharmacy of Spain and of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy, of which he has been honorary president since 2006. He is honorary professor of the Mayor National University of San Marcos and Norbert Wiener University (Peru). His connection to Portugal, in addition to having collaborated in various initiatives and academic activities of FFUC, resulted in the participation in the External Evaluation Committee of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Educational Sciences promoted by CNAVES-National Council for Higher Education in 2003.
