Leonardo de La Pena Sanchéz

Leonardo de La Pena Sanchéz was born in Ciudad Real, Spain, in 1875 and died in 1957. He studied medicine at the Universities of Madrid and Valladolid. He began his academic career as an assistant at the University of Valladolid. In 1899 he won by public competition the Chair of Operations of the University of Santiago de Compostela, which he exchanged in 1904 with that of Operations of the University of Cadiz. He held the chair of Descriptive Anatomy at the University of Valladolid, and held the chair of Anatomical Technique at the Central University of Madrid, and in 1920 was the first professor of Urology in Spain.
