On April 28, 2025, the University of Coimbra (UC), through its Strategic Areas Unit (NAE), organized an internal session to support the submission of applications for Pillar 2 of Horizon Europe. The event, part of the Horizon@UC initiative, had the main objective of exploring pathways to participation and success in pillar 2 of Horizon Europe.

The session had the institutional support of the Strategic Areas Unit (NAE) and the Research Support Unit (DAPI) of the Research Management Service (SPGI). During the session, practical advice for researchers was presented (Daniela Rodrigues, CIAS), highlighting the fundamental role of science managers in supporting participation in calls for proposals (Fernando Borges, IJ).

The event concluded with a round table discussion on “Coordinating and Evaluating European Projects”, which was attended by researcher Maria João Feio (MARE-UCoimbra), coordinator of the European project OneAquaHealth, and researcher Rui Curado Silva (LIP), who has evaluated Horizon Europe projects. During this round table, valuable information was shared on evaluation processes and best practices for preparing and managing European projects.
