Our commitment

  • Adopt efficient water management practices.

  • Implement water reduction and reuse initiatives.

  • Make drinking water available on campus to the entire academic community.

  • Promote awareness and education about the importance of water and sanitation for health and the environment.

  • Ensure that hazardous materials used in campus facilities are properly managed through specialized collection circuits, guaranteeing that there is no contamination of water circuits, keeping them safe and free of pollutants.

Did you know?

The Botanical Garden and the São Marcos Palace collect and store rainwater for irrigation purposes.


The UC has a set of 38 water purifying drinking fountains in the facilities belonging to the Social Services of the University of Coimbra (SASUC), guaranteeing free drinking water for the academic community on all its campuses.


The UC is implementing various measures aimed at efficient water management, including the gradual replacement of taps with more efficient ones and the implementation of sanitary water flow reducers in all taps and showers in university residences.
