After the storm, it’s time for the “Beauty” of UC’s Cultural Week
The 28th Cultural Week of the University of Coimbra (SCUC) takes place from 1 to 15 March, featuring around 80 activities across more than 20 venues.
“Beauty” is the theme of the 28th Cultural Week of the University of Coimbra (SCUC), "dedicated to those affected by the recent storms and to the resilience of the community in times of hardship", highlights the Vice-Rector for Culture and Open Science, Delfim Leão.
With over 50 main events – concerts, exhibitions and performances – and nearly 20 complementary activities, such as workshops and debates, the programme involves more than 40 partners. Some adjustments were necessary due to the storm, including the absence of Banda de Soure, whose concert is expected to be rescheduled.
The Cultural Week also marks the start of the celebrations for the Paço das Escolas, which was recently restored, with the main event planned for June, on the anniversary of UC’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The programme was presented at the Auditorium of the Former Anatomical Theatre of the Faculty of Medicine, a space that has undergone artistic reimagining, symbolising transformation and life. Most activities are free of charge, with some requiring prior registration due to limited capacity.
