The Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC) MBA for Executives has received the international accreditation from the Association of MBAs Accreditation (AMBA), one of the world's leading authorities on the accreditation of postgraduate management programmes, which only awards accreditation to degree programmes that meet the highest standards of teaching, curriculum design and student interaction.

With this accreditation, FEUC now joins the select group of 3% of higher education institutions worldwide offering programmes recognised by AMBA.

“It is with great satisfaction that we receive this further international recognition of the excellence of the University of Coimbra in training top professionals, prepared to innovate and take on leadership roles in the future,” stated the UC Rector, Amílcar Falcão.

The Director of FEUC, José Manuel Mendes, also emphasised that “the accreditation of the Executive MBA by AMBA represents international recognition of the quality of the education offered by the Faculty, consolidating the strategy of building a school of leaders attuned to current challenges and promoting a culture of innovation, rigour and responsibility.”

During the AMBA accreditation process, the panel of assessors (comprising top senior leaders from world-class business schools) highlighted the faculty’s close ties with the community, its engagement with employers, and its network of more than 140 partner companies. They also underlined the University of Coimbra’s strong historical identity and reputation, as well as the Faculty’s future plans, including the revitalisation of facilities for teaching and research and the existence of the MBA advisory board.

“I am delighted that the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra has received AMBA accreditation. The Faculty offers a unique combination of history and modernity, delivering high-quality education with close links to a highly committed and extensive group of employers and business partners,” said AMBA Chief Executive, Andrew Main Wilson.

Accreditation grants current and former FEUC MBA students free access to the AMBA global member community, which comprises over 60,000 students and alumni across more than 150 countries. Members can enjoy networking opportunities, thought leadership, career development and other relevant benefits.

Since 1967, AMBA has set the global standards for the assessment of MBA, DBA, and master’s programmes. It currently accredits courses from the top 3% of business schools worldwide, in more than 75 countries.
