Now in its second year, 'Innovation in Health' is a successful event. "We have brought together research and development partners from the central region to discuss health-related topics, and have been working to consolidate this ecosystem," stated the UC Vice-Rector for Innovation, Business Relations and Employability. Over 150 participants attended the sharing of best practices in healthcare innovation at the UC Department of Civil Engineering on Campus II.

This year’s edition featured roundtables with specialists discussing some of the most pressing topics in health innovation, a keynote speaker recognised in the field, and a technology exhibition with live demonstrations of projects and technologies developed by INOVC+ 23 partners.

“The ecosystem is alive and active, with multiple agents keen to showcase their work. That is precisely what we want: to further support this dynamic in the region", said Nuno Mendonça in his opening address”. "Innovation in Health" therefore continues to serve as a key platform for interaction between researchers and companies with a shared purpose: shaping the future of healthcare. "We need to discuss the next steps, upcoming innovations, how to achieve them, the role of artificial intelligence in this process and its limits, " added the vice-rector.

The event concluded with technical visits and guided demonstrations at UC health research units located across the different campuses, offering participants direct contact with the University’s high-quality research and helping identify potential opportunities for collaboration.

“Innovation in Health” is organised by the University of Coimbra, the Coimbra Nursing School and the Association for Innovation and Biomedical Research on Light and Image (AIBILI), with the support of Health Cluster Portugal, and is co-funded by the regional project INOVC+ (Innovation Ecosystem for Knowledge and Technology Transfer in the Central Region), and the Centro2030 programme.
