2024 is the year of water equity at the eoLab
Across the globe, millions face challenges accessing clean water, with disparities disproportionately affecting marginalized communities. The "Year of Water Equity" signifies our laboratory's determination to conduct research and develop applications to help the world move closer to water accessibility for all, coupled with the protection of critical ecosystems, and sustainable development.
In 2024, the Earth Observation Laboratory embarks on a significant journey, dedicating this year as the Year of Water Equity. It is a choice that aligns with our core values and commitments (and those of the University of Coimbra), acknowledging the critical need to address global water challenges through science, innovation, and collaboration.
Recognizing the struggle for clean water access worldwide, eoLab's initiative prioritizes developing research and applications to ensure water accessibility for all. This commitment extends to implementing projects and supporting partners working in sustainable development and the protection of critical ecosystems, acknowledging the interconnected nature of these challenges.
