Significant Participation and Key Highlights from AGU Fall Meeting 2023 for eoLab
The eoLab once again actively participated in the AGU Fall Meeting 2023, held in San Francisco, a global reference that brought together over 25,000 Earth scientists for a diverse exchange of knowledge, research, and insights across various disciplines in the field.
The Laboratory made a meaningful impact with two oral presentations and one poster, focusing on essential research areas such as land cover mapping and thermal monitoring in urban settings, the GPM Mentorship Program (the program reached people in over 40 countries), and the EMA API, developed in collaboration with NASA scientists. These presentations highlighted the lab's dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and practical applications, with user needs taking center stage..
Upholding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Alongside scientific achievements, the eoLab continued its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. Vasco Mantas, is chairing the DEI Committee of the Informatics Section of AGU, reinforcing the lab's dedication to creating a more inclusive scientific community.
Looking Forward: EGU and International Science Infrastructures
As AGU marks a significant milestone for the lab, attention turns to the future. The eoLab is preparing to to participate in the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly in April 2024. A session on International Science Infrastructures is in the works, highlighting the lab's commitment to global collaboration.
