A Fundação Eng. António de Almeida instituiu, na Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra, o Prémio Fundação Eng. António de Almeida, destinado a galardoar, anualmente, uma tese de doutoramento em qualquer uma das áreas cientificas dos Programas de Doutoramento da FEUC.
No ano de 2023, foram admitidos a concurso os doutorados, aprovados com louvor e distinção, no ano civil de 2022. Depois de apreciadas as candidaturas, o júri deliberou sobre a atribuição do Prémio à Tese de Joana Isabel Rocha Zózimo.

Título: The (in)stability of creative destruction: Industrial dynamics and productivity growth in Portugal over the last four decades.

Breve CV:
Earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and currently serves as a researcher at the Centre for Business and Economics Research (CeBER). Alongside his research role, holds a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics. Taking a pluralist approach, his research interests encompass technological progress, industrial dynamics, and income inequality. He has contributed to these fields through several publications in high-impact journals, presentations at first-rank international conferences, participation in three externally funded research projects, providing peer-review services for top journals, and teaching at the undergraduate and master's levels. His current research agenda focuses on understanding the factors that facilitate or hinder creative destruction, including their implications for the labour market and income distribution. This agenda revolves around four interrelated research lines: 1) long-term waves of innovation, 2) firm-level technology, 3) innovation and competitive selection, and 4) industrial dynamics and the labour market. In addition, his experience in senior government positions in Ecuador, notably as the Undersecretary of State for Knowledge Strengthening, has provided him with valuable insights into the intersection of research and public policy. This background underscores his commitment to research that is not only academically rigorous but also relevant and impactful in addressing societal challenges.
