O evento tem como objetivo o de apresentar as pesquisas mais recentes desenvolvidas em toda a Europa. Além da apresentação das inovações produzidas pelos vários projetos financiados pela União Europeia, está também aberta a todos os pesquisadores e profissionais num esforço para reunir as melhores e mais inovadoras iniciativas no âmbito europeu. Isso inclui também um dia dedicado às iniciativas de Laboratórios Vivos (Living Labs).

The Soils for Europe conference, co-organised by multiple Mission Soil projects, will highlight panels on the Mission Objectives, including cross-cutting sessions aiming to showcase the latest research being developed across Europe. The impact and contributions of scientists, policymakers, land managers, civil society, and industry representatives in research and innovation.

While the event will allow for the showcasing of innovations being produced by various European-fundedprojects, the conference will be open to all researchers and practitioners in an effort to bring together the best and most innovative initiatives in the European space, including a day dedicated to the Living Labs initiatives .

CONFERENCE THEMES

  • Reduce land degradation and desertification – advancing strategies to halt soil erosion, compaction, and sealing.
  • Preserve and increase soil organic carbon stocks – highlighting soil’s role in climate mitigation and sustainable farming.
  • Stop soil sealing and increase reuse of urban soils – supporting sustainable urban planning and land recycling.
  • Reduce soil pollution and enhance restoration – addressing contaminants, waste, and strategies for remediation.
  • Prevent erosion and improve soil structure – showcasing innovations for sustainable land management.
  • Improve soil literacy and citizen engagement – promoting awareness, education, and citizen science initiatives.
  • Reduce the EU global footprint on soils – addressing the global impacts of EU consumption on soils.
  • Boost monitoring and harmonised soil data – moving towards comprehensive, accessible European soil information systems.
  • New technologies and innovations to enhance soil health – showcasing new advances in technological development in fields like remote sensing, low impact agriculture, automatization of monitoring procedures, etc.
  • Enhance soil biodiversity – recognising soils as living systems and ensuring their protection.
