Meet Mariana Lapo Pais, a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at CIBIT, developing her work on the role of tryptophan metabolism in the tuberous sclerosis complex. Her research dives deep into the role of tryptophan as a key mediator and potential therapeutic target for neurological and autism spectrum disorder-related manifestations in tuberous sclerosis complex. Outside the lab, Mariana’s interests are as dynamic as her research, spanning biomedical imaging, neuroscience, and nutrition.
