The Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory of the University of Coimbra will host the first Portuguese presentation event on the EST - European Solar Telescope, in a collaboration with the EST Team.
EST will be the largest European telescope dedicated to the study of the Sun. The Sun’s influence, which extends beyond the outskirts of the solar system, affects the climate on planets and the interplanetary space, with consequences for satellites and technological infrastructures. Considering the relevance of the Sun in both our daily life and for the comprehension of different astrophysical phenomena, the solar astrophysics European community decided to develop the EST project.
Portugal EST Day will be focused on the opportunities this project brings to the industrial and scientific communities in Portugal.
