The CASS-UC Centre of China Studies offers a 12-week course on China Studies with the support of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the University of CASS (UCASS) and the Sino-Lusophone Academy of the University of Coimbra (ASL-UC).
The CASS-UC Centre of China Studies was established in 2018 as an important platform for academic exchanges between CASS and European academia, paying a major role in deepening Sino-Portuguese, Sino-European and Sino-Lusophone ties.
As an endeavor to nurture mutual understanding between China and Europe, the CASS-UC online course is open to all that wish to have access to an introduction to what China has achieved along its journey of development, with the participation of top Chinese experts in the areas of Politics, Economy, Culture and Society.

Period: from February 23 until May 18, 2022
Duration: 2-hour lectures, once per week (Wednesdays), during a total of 12 weeks
Time: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. (Portugal time zone)
Format: online (Zoom)
Cost: free of charge
Curriculum
The curriculum consists of three modules on China: National Realities, History and Culture, and China and the World. It covers topics of interest to European students, such as China's economic, political, social and legal systems, China's history and culture, China's achievements in poverty eradication, Belt and Road Initiative, and China's green development.
Lecturers: CASS experts and scholars of relevant fields
Language requirements
Intermediate level of English (understanding/speaking).
Certificate
Upon meeting the academic standards set by CASS (75% attendance - 9 sessions), students will receive a certificate of completion from UCASS (University of CASS).
Additional benefits
Students that enroll in this course will have priority in exchange programs with CASS (visits to China/Beijing/CASS, etc.).
