The role of serotonergic neurotransmission as a predictor of treatment response following bariatric surgery in individuals with obesity

Positron emission tomography (PET) with [carbonyl-11C]WAY 100635 will be used to map brain serotonin 1A receptors. Quantitative kinetic parameters will be extracted from [carbonyl-11C]WAY 100635 PET images and used as features to compute a predictor of response model. Being obesity a multifactorial disease, to find a well-defined predictor of response other neurobehavioral, clinical, metabolic and functional imaging markers associated with this clinical population can also be used as features of this model.
