Biografia
Ana Maria Antunes Dias holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering (University of Aveiro, 2005) and has developed an extensive and multidisciplinary research career in Chemical and Materials Engineering. Her work spans over 20 years and focuses on the development of green, functional, and sustainable materials for biomedical, pharmaceutical, environmental, and industrial applications.
Her research integrates supercritical fluid technologies, ionic liquids, and natural-based polymers to design innovative functional coatings, electroactive and antimicrobial materials, and biopolymer-based systems. Ana Dias has also contributed to the greening of polymer processing and the valorization of renewable resources and agro-industrial residues, aiming at safer, scalable, and environmentally responsible technologies.
She has co-authored more than 60 international peer-reviewed papers, several book chapters, and two European patents, many in collaboration with industry partners such as TMG Automotive. Her research activity has been supported by competitive national and international projects, where she has served as principal investigator and co-PI, and has resulted in multiple technological innovations with industrial impact.
