Mara Braga

Biografia

Mara Braga has a multidisciplinary scientific background in Agronomy, PhD in Food Engineering (2005) and experience in Chemical Engineering, developing extensive work in distinct subareas of chemical engineering for more than 18 years. Mara Braga has research strategies and activities that are mostly focused on the use of “green”, sustainable, safe, biomimetic and environmentally-friendly processes for the development of added-value products, materials and applications. These activities and strategies are mostly envisaged for the development of food, nutraceutical, agricultural, and biomedical, pharmaceutical applications and include the use of supercritical fluids (namely supercritical carbon dioxide); aqueous ethanolic-based solvent systems; natural-based polymers and phytochemicals obtained from renewable sources (e.g. vegetable raw materials and agro-industrial residues) and biomimetic synthesis/processing strategies.
