The Project
CogBooster is an ERA CHAIR Action that aims to implement a strong line of research in Cognitive Neuroscience with an exceptional and worldwide team of researchers in order to close the gap between the Psychological Sciences in Portugal and in non-widening countries.
Led by ERA Chair Holder Alfonso Caramazza, CogBooster aims to have a transformative effect in the psychological sciences in Portugal, and, in particular, in the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (FPCE-UC).
CogBooster wants to bring the University of Coimbra closer to the cutting-edge psychological research and education currently provided in Psychology Departments within non-Widening European countries, and in the top Psychology Departments in the world.
Our main goals are:
- To create a strong line of research in Cognitive Neuroscience capable of transforming the research and educational landscape of FPCE-UC;
- To bring to Portuguese academia a contemporary understanding of Psychology that includes the neuroscientifically-informed study of the mind, through better communication of results;
- To implement a permanent Cognitive Neuroscience team at the University of Coimbra and reform research and education efforts at FPCE-UC;
- To promote the move towards a new contemporary societal perspective of Psychology that includes the study of the mind intimately connected to how the brain supports cognition.
