Santander University Support Scholarships

These scholarships are aimed to support Students who are registered, at the University of Coimbra, in a 1st or 2nd Cycle of Studies or Integrated Master’s Degree Courses, and are determined to continue their studies or complete a cycle of studies at the University of Coimbra.

Santander-University Support Scholarships

The applications for the SANTANDER-UNIVERSITY SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIPS - in 2025 are currently taking place

Scholarship recipients:

These scholarships are aimed to support Students who are registered, at the University of Coimbra, in a 1st or 2nd Cycle of Studies or Integrated Master’s Degree Courses, and are determined to continue their studies or complete a cycle of studies at the University of Coimbra.

Number and amount of the Scholarships

1 - One hundred and twenty-five (125) monetary Scholarships will be awarded and they will be distributed according to two groups:

  • a) Group 1 - Students with disabilities according to Article no.1 in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities;
  • b) Group 2 - Other Students.

2 – The distribution of the Scholarships according to the aforementioned groups is the following:

  • The number of scholarships to be awarded in each group are 10% and 90%, respectively.

3 – The amount of each awarded scholarship is 1,000 euros.

Eligibility Criteria, and Weighing and Seriation Criteria

  • a) Registration in the 1st or 2nd Cycle of Studies ( Bachelor's, Integrated Master's and Master's Degree Courses), in at least 30 ECTS credits which is an eligibility criteria at the University of Coimbra, except for a situation concerning a cycle of studies completion.
  • b) Existence of academic successful assessment.

Note:

- The academic successful assessment is appraised in accordance with the provisions laid down in number 7 of article no. 100 of the Academic Regulation of the University of Coimbra.

- The applicants for the scholarship that are attending a cycle of studies for the first time are considered to have an academic successful assessment for the purposes of this application.

Documents to be presented when applying

1. Documents to be submitted with the application:

a) Annual Financial Statement submitted to the Tax and Customs Authority concerning the year 2024 that includes the student's Tax ID Number (TIN),

or

a declaration of the Tax and Customs Authority attesting the exemption from submitting the Annual Financial Statement of the household that includes the income earned during the year 2024.” ;

or

an Annual Financial Statement of the country where the student's household pays the taxes, concerning international students, issued by the competent authorities that mentions the household composition including the student.

b) A declaration issued by the Parish Council or an equivalent entity attesting the household members concerning the students that submit the declaration attesting the exemption from submitting the Annual Financial Statement.

c) Supporting document of the disability equal to or higher than 60 per cent, issued by the competent entities concerning the applications submitted according to the group mentioned in subparagraph a) of number 2 in paragraph II of the Specific Provisions_Santander Scholarships_University Support.

d) Supporting document of residency outside the period of classes, which is obtained at the Parish Councils.

Housing contract in the name of the student *

* If, during the period of classes, the applicant lives in one of the university residences, he/she must mention this information in the description of the request at Inforestudante. Therefore, submitting the housing contract is not necessary in this case.

2. If the declaration attesting the exemption from submitting the Annual Financial Statement does not include the amount of the income earned during the year 2024, the maximum limit established for the exemption is taken into consideration in accordance with the IRS Code.

3. The non-submission of the aforementioned documents, that enable to assess the application under the terms of numbers 1 to 4 of paragraph V of the Specific Provisions of this Scholarships, is a reason for exclusion.

  • The non-submission of the application by means of both Platforms (Santander and InforEstudante), is a reason for exclusion.
  • Students must enter the complete required information in both platforms.
  • The documents necessary to analyse the application for the scholarship must be submitted by means of the InforEstudante platform.
