The “European PhD” is a title associated with the degree of PhD, awarded by European Higher Education Institutions, to which a reference is made on the Diploma [as it is laid down in no. 2 of article no. 79 of the Academic Regulation of the University of Coimbra (RAUC) »»].

Note 1: The "European PhD" is not an academic degree, but rather a title associated with the PhD degree, conferred by European Higher Education Institutions, to which a reference is made on the Diploma.

Note 2: – In view of what is provided for in the previous note, the term “European” refers only to the mobility framework.

Note 3: The “European PhD” title that is obtained by the students registered at other European Higher Education Institutions, does not exempt its holder from being subject to the recognition systems provided for in the Portuguese legislation concerning the PhD Degree.
