Student Insurance

How can you verify and prove that you are covered by the Student Insurance?

• By means of the Multipurpose Certificate and the copy of the Insurance Policy concerning the contract made by the UC (a document mentioning the Number of the Insurance Policy, its coverage and conditions to access the insurance):

• After the registration is made, the electronic multipurpose certificate becomes available automatically for the Student. This document, besides ascertaining that you are registered for a certain course and academic year, it proves also that you are covered by the UC student insurance.

• The Insurance Policy may be retrieved from InforEstudante and/or printed at this same platform at “Academic Service » Policies and Procedures”.

How to activate the Student Insurance?

The Student must fill in the form of the Insurance Company that is available to this purpose. The form to activate the Student Insurance may be obtained by means of one of the undermentioned ways:

• In-Person, at the Academic In-Person Assistance of the SGA operating in the Student Hub;

or

• Online, please click HERE to download the form of the Insurance Company.

Filling in the student insurance claim notification form

1. The injured person must download the form that is available online and mandatorily fill in the undermentioned data:

Address (Morada): Rua Larga, Edifício FMUC R/C Esq., 3004-504 Coimbra, Portugal.

2. Attach the supporting documents of the accident: medical report attesting the situation; relevant documents related to the accident, including expenses, when applicable.

3. If the student insurance claim notification form is submitted online: The form and the supporting documents of the accident must be sent in PDF format to the UC by means of the email form that is available at: www.uc.pt/en/academic-services/e-mail/, with the subject: "Acidente escolar" ("Student accident").

Which risks does the Student Insurance cover ?

The Student Insurance guarantees the undermentioned coverages and maximum amounts:

• Maximum cover amount for Treatment and Repatriation expenses: 13 thousand euros (10 thousand euros exclusively for Treatment Expenses and 3 thousand euros exclusively for Repatriation Expenses)
• Maximum cover amount for death or permanent disability: 35 thousand euros.
• Maximum cover amount for Student Civil Responsibility: 5 thousand euros
• Maximum cover amount for UC Civil Responsibility: 25 thousand euros.
• Maximum cover amount for Funeral expenses: 5 thousand euros €
