What happens if your tuition fee payments are late?

You have to pay Late Payment Interests, concerning the instalments paid beyond the deadlines provided for in the UC Regulation, which are in the payment plan available at InforeEstudante at the time of the Registration.

If, at the date of registration for the academic year, there is any payment default and you want to register for:

  • a cycle of studies (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD Degree) or a non-degree course, you can only register after settling that debt.
The student that owes tuition fees (and the corresponding late payment interests) concerning a cycle of studies for which he/she registered in 2018/2019 (if it took place after 31st August 2018) and in the subsequent academic years, can settle the debt by requesting a debt settlement payment plan concerning the academic year and cycle of studies concerned.

The Tuition fee Debt Settlement Payment Plan is a request (free of charge) carried out at InforEstudante, in the menu option “Academic Service » Request”, according to the guidelines provided by the system itself. You can register only after it is submitted and accepted. Therefore, if you have a tuition fee debt in a certain academic year, you will have to submit this request before registering for the subsequent academic year.
No certificate, declaration or information of any kind concerning a course or cycle of studies may be issued to a defaulting student in a given academic year, except for information related to the situation of tuition fee payment and Multipurpose Certificate.

A Student of a Cycle of Studies has his/her tuition fee payments settled, if:

  • He/she paid the total amount that he/she owed, and the potential late payment interests; or

  • He/She adhered to a payment plan for tuition fee debt settlement by means of the aforementioned request and this is accepted by the UC, provided that the he/she complies with the payment plan.
