CALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Aerodinâmica Industrial - ADAI opens a call for 1 fellowship, in the framework of the Transform Agenda – project P2.5 - Boosting electric motorization in the forestry sector in Portugal, with the financial support of the portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR)., in the following conditio

Skills/Qualifications/Admission requirements

Applicants who fulfill the following requisites will be considered:

- Master’s degree in Informatics Engineering, Eletrotechnical and Computer Engineering or similar.

- experience in programming language Python, Java and Angular (HTML and TypeScript).

Work plan/ Objectives

After obtaining specific training and integrated into the research team, the winner of the fellowship will collaborate on the following tasks:

- backend and frontend development of a fire propagation simulator software

- API development

- production of technical and scientific documentation

- participation in actions to publicize and disseminate technical and scientific results

Regime:

The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime. The fellowship holder is awarded the Fellowship Statute of ADAI, in its current wording, according to the Research Fellowship Holder Statute, and according to the Regulation for Research Fellowships of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., both in their current wording.

Location:

Work will be developed within the activities of the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics of the Associated Laboratory in Energy, Transport and Aeronautics (ADAI-LAETA). The work will be carried out in Coimbra, at the Industrial Aerodynamics Laboratory, R. Pedro Hispano 12, 3030-289 Coimbra. It may be necessary to travel to other locations that appear to be of interest for the development of the work.

Duration:

The fellowship will last for 6 months on an exclusive basis, with the possibility of renewal, but never beyond the end date of the project, in accordance with the FCT Research Fellowship Regulations and the ADAI Scientific Research Fellowship Regulations.

Renewal:

The eventual renewal of the scholarship will be done as determined in art. 6 of the Regulation of Research Scholarships of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P.

The work will be carried under the scientific guidance of Professor Carlos Xavier Pais Viegas

Financial conditions:

The amount of the fellowship is 1199.64€ corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en), plus the reimbursement of social security (Seguro Social Voluntário, first level contributions) and personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made by bank transfer. This amount will not be increased during the entire period of the fellowship duration.

Selection Methods:

All applications submitted within the deadline and containing all required documents will be evaluated

Selection criteria:

Admissible applications will be scored on a scale of 1 to 100 on each of the following evaluation criteria:

** Curriculum Evaluation (65%)

** Interview (35%)

The Curriculum Evaluation criterion, with a total weight of 65% in the final score, is divided into the following subcriteria:

AC (65%) = A1 (10%) + A2 (5%) + A3 (10%) + A4 (20%) + B (20%)

• Sub-criterion A1 - Scientific production, with a total weight of 10%;

• Sub-criterion A2 - Specialization courses, with a total weight of 5%;

• Sub-criterion A3 - IT skills, with a total weight of 10%;

• Sub-criterion A4 - Academic qualifications and final grades, with a total weight of 20%;

• Sub-criterion B - Merit of the letter of motivation, with a total weight of 20%;

The interview, conducted in English, will have a total weight of 35% in the final score and is divided into the following subcriteria.

E (35%) = E1 (15%) + E2 (10%) + E3 (10%)

• Sub-criterion E1 - Analysis and critical sense, with a total weight of 15%;

• Sub-criterion E2 - Motivation and interest, with a total weight of 10%.

• Sub-criterion E3 - Mastery of English, with a total weight of 10%.

After ranking all candidates in descending order, the best-ranked candidate will be invited to sign the contract. In case of the candidate does not accept the fellowship, the following candidate is invited. This process continues until no more eligible candidates are available.

The jury might exclude candidates who do not show the background and skills to carry out the work plan (a minimum evaluation of 50%). Ultimately, the jury might not award the fellowship to any candidate.

All panel members, including the coordinator, will make a commitment to respect the responsibilities of the evaluation process, such as the duties of impartiality, the declaration of any potential conflicts of interest, and confidentiality. At all times during the evaluation process, confidentiality is fully protected and ensured in order to guarantee the independence of all opinions produced.

* Applicants with diplomas obtained abroad will be required to present a Certificate of Recognition under applicable law (https://www.dges.gov.pt/en/pagina/degree-and-diploma-recognition). This document is mandatory only in the contract signing stage; however, a proof of the request for the certificate should be presented.

Additional information

The evaluation results will be announced within 90 working days after the end of the applications submission deadline, by notifying the applicants via email. After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date. After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waivers the fellowship. In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the next candidate with the highest evaluation score will be notified immediately.

Once the selection process is completed, the fellowship contract will be drawn up in accordance with the draft contract provided by the FCT.

Selection reserve list

The selection reserve list must be available throughout the project.
