Mozambique's National Electoral Commission receives training on Electoral Law in the UC

On 3 October 2025, the closing session of the Advanced Training Course on Electoral Law, organised by the Sino-Lusophone Academy of the University of Coimbra (ASL-UC) for 16 leaders and members of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) of Mozambique, took place at the Colégio da Trindade of the University of Coimbra (UC). The training course took place from 29 September to 3 October, with the participation of lecturers from the UC Faculty of Law.

The closing session's programme included an opening address by the Vice-Rector for External Relations and Alumni of the UC, João Nuno Calvão da Silva, and the Vice-President of the National Election Commission of Mozambique, Fernando Mazanga; a lecture on ‘Electoral Law and the Defence of Democracy’ by the former Director of the Faculty of Law of the UC, Jónatas Machado; a closing lecture by the former President of the National Election Commission of Portugal, Judge José dos Santos Cabral, on the theme ‘Freedom of Expression and Electoral Propaganda’; and a final speech by the Honorary President of ASL-UC, António Pinto Monteiro.
