[Capacity on the news] HIV and Sickle cell cure - Uganda targets HIV and sickle cell cure through gene therapy technologies

CAPACITY 2023 project appeared on one of Uganda's largest television channels,UBC TV Uganda, following the dissemination of the results from a study on the knowledge and perception of gene therapy use in the country. This study was conducted by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST), one of the CAPACITY 2023 partners, and its findings and feedback will serve as a basis for the development of specific guidelines for gene therapy research.

The story also featured another CAPACITY 2023 partner, the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC). The institution's executive director, Cissy Kityo, discussed the work being developed in Uganda to cure HIV and sickle cell disease through gene therapy technologies.
