Biografia

 

Artur Rebelo is a graphic designer, professor, and researcher. He holds a PhD in Contemporary Art from the University of Coimbra, where he teaches in the Bachelor's and Master's programs in Design and Multimedia at the Faculty of Science and Technology. He is also a member of the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra (CISUC) and the Computational Design and Visualization Lab (CDV). He is the co-founder, along with Lizá Ramalho, of R2, a design studio based in Porto. Over 20 years of professional experience, he has collaborated with cultural institutions (art, architecture, theatre), various authors, artists, architects, scientists, and researchers on diverse projects, developing visual identities, editorial design, posters, exhibition design, signage systems, as well as web and animation projects. His work also extends to curating exhibitions, editing books, and creating public space installations. Together with Lizá Ramalho, he has coordinated several workshops and participated in various conferences at design festivals, institutes, and universities, such as Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne (France), École Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne (Switzerland), School of Visual Arts (USA), and Art Institute of Chicago (USA). Some of their projects are part of major museum collections, including the Musée des Arts Decoratifs (France), Hong Kong Heritage Museum (China), Deutsches Plakat Museum (Germany), and Museum für Gestaltung (Switzerland). Their work frequently appears in art and design publications and has been featured in numerous national and international exhibitions. Their projects have earned prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix at the Brno Biennale (Czech Republic), Gold Prize at the International Poster Triennial in Toyama (Japan), European Agency of the Year at the European Design Awards, third place at the Festival International de l'Affiche et des Arts Graphiques de Chaumont, and several awards from ISTD – International Society of Typographic Designers (UK) and SEGD – Society for Environmental Graphic Design (USA). Artur Rebelo has been a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) since 2007.
