Biografia

With a PhD in Architecture from the University of Coimbra (2020), Cristina Castelo Branco has a career marked by design practice and teaching and research. With a postgraduate degree in Urban Design from ISCTE (1996) and a degree in Architecture from FAUP (1994), she collaborated with architects such as Alcino Soutinho and Franco Purini, before founding the studio lema barros + castelo branco, arquitetos. Her work has been recognized and awarded both nationally and internationally. Between 2005 and 2006, she served as Councillor for Urbanism in Torres Vedras City Council, promoting dialogue between architecture, heritage and citizen participation. Between 2015 and 2022, she taught at ENSA-Marseille in the Department of Lusophone Studies at the University of Aix-Marseille, having organized the international university programme “CIVIS Metamorphosis in a Changing World: The Role of Culture and Heritage in Society's Transformation”, held in Marseille, Brussels and Rome. Since 2012, she has been teaching regularly at ENSA-Marseille. She is currently associated with the Project(s) research laboratory at ENSA-Marseille and with CEARQ-TD in Coimbra, combining research with architectural practice at the LBCB Architecture studio.
