Biografia
Inês Laborinho graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon in 2021, where she defended her master's thesis titled "Cinema as a Tool for Understanding Architecture: Considerations on the Architectural Characteristics Present in Dystopian Film Sets." She is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Architecture at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Her doctoral research focuses primarily on the study of Virtual Reality (VR), the Metaverse, Visionary Architecture, and the Human Condition, with her thesis titled "The Virtual Condition of Architecture: A Critical Genealogy of Visionary and Virtual Architectures and Their Active Reflection on Architectural Culture." Her ongoing research for her doctoral thesis involves studying and understanding the potential of virtual spaces designed in the metaverse by architects, and their influence on the design of so-called "real," physical architectures and on Architectural Culture. She is a collaborating researcher at the Center for Architecture Studies - from Territory to Design (CEARQ-TD). Her research interests mainly focus on the study of architectural spaces projected in the metaverse and the consequent experience of these environments for humans. Inês Laborinho is also interested in the fields of Architectural Theory, Place Theory, and the Phenomenology and Ontology of Architecture.
