Biografia
João Paulo Cardielos, architect, graduated in Architecture from FAUP in 1986, and Prof. Project Studio Assistant at the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of Coimbra, where he has worked since 1992, on the Integrated master’s degree in Architecture and the Doctorate Course of Architecture, entitled Coimbra-Studio. Professor of the Doctoral Program in Sustainable Energy Systems (SES) at MIT-Portugal and the master’s degree of the Energy for Sustainability Initiative, at the University of Coimbra, since 2010 (EfS | UC). PhD in Architecture from the University of Coimbra, in 2009, in the Specialty of Urban Planning and Design, where he defended the thesis ‘The construction of landscape architecture’. His research interests are centered on the importance of the relationship between architectural details and the scales of intervention and structuring of territories, especially in the design of urban projects in areas of great fragility and environmental sensitivity. The challenges of eco-efficient design and the integration of new digital technologies at the service of architecture, from climate data generation models to design optimization systems, for more efficient performances, and the integration of parametric systems to support information and knowledge, are some of his most recent interests.
