Biografia

Jorge Figueira graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto in 1992. He obtained his PhD from the University of Coimbra in 2009, specializing in History and Theory. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, where he served as director from 2010 to 2017. Currently, he is vice-president of the Scientific Council and a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra. Jorge Figueira is a guest professor in the Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, a Visiting Researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (2018), and a Visiting Professor at Escola da Cidade, São Paulo (2018, 2016, 2012). He is the Principal Investigator of the research project (EU)ROPA – Rise of Portuguese Architecture, funded by COMPETE 2020 and the Foundation for Science and Technology.
