Biografia
Valdemar Santos (Coimbra, 1962) graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto in 1990, where he studied Fine Arts/Painting. He holds a master's degree in Art History from the Lusíada University of Lisbon (2000) and a PhD in Contemporary Art (2016) from the College of Arts at the University of Coimbra. He is an invited assistant professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Coimbra, where he has been teaching Drawing in the undergraduate and master's courses in Design and Multimedia since the 2021-2022 academic year. He began his teaching career in secondary education in 1998 as a teacher at Avelar Brotero Secondary School in Coimbra, where he taught Drawing and Arts Workshop. He also held various roles and activities, including discipline group delegate, class director, teacher evaluator, and national exam classifier. In the context of IAVE, he served for three years as a trainer for teachers who classified national Drawing exams. He was a professor at the University School of Arts of Coimbra (EUAC) from 1990 to 2008, where he taught Drawing and Ceramic Workshop; and for seven years at the School of Arts of Coimbra, where he served as the director of the Design and Ceramics course and taught Drawing and Project/Workshop courses. Since 1992, he has held various solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions at both national and international levels, for which he has written catalog essays. He is also the author of several publications.
