Marco Daniel Duarte

Marco Daniel Duarte is director of the Department of Studies at the Shrine of Fatima, where he directs the Archive and Library, and of the Museum of the Shrine of Fatima. He is also director of the Cultural Heritage Department of the Diocese of Leiria-Fatima. He has a PhD in Art History from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra, and has developed his research within the scope of studies of Iconography and Iconology, as well as within the scope of different themes related to human thought in the context of the History of Fatima. He belongs to the Portuguese Academy of History, as a Number Academic, to the Fine Arts National Academy, as a National Correspondent Fellow, is an Permanent Fellow of the Portuguese Association of Art Historians, Member of the Lisbon Geography Society, of the National Society of Fine Arts, Member of the Scientific Society of the Portuguese Catholic University and of the Research Center Prof. Doctor Joaquim Veríssimo Serrão. He is also a Corresponding Member of the Brazilian Historical and Geographical Institute (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and an Ordinary Member of the Vatican's Pontifical International Marian Academy. He is a Researcher at CEIS20-UC, Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the 20th Century, at the University of Coimbra, and, from 2012 to 2016, he also participated at the Seminar for Young Scientists of the Advanced Studies Institute of Lisbon’s Academy of Sciences.
