Research
The DemForYou project's first line of action aims to deepen scientific knowledge about the threats to democracy in the European Union, as well as to point the way towards institutional and political mechanisms capable of strengthening it. The research focuses on two major dimensions of the EU's political system: policies (Economic and Monetary Union; Cohesion Policy; Social Policy; Asylum Policy; Neighbourhood Policy) and politics (parties, the European Parliament, citizenship and participation).
Proposed Actions:
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
- Conduct empirical studies on the following topics:
- The role of political parties in the EU democracy;
- The contribution of the European Parliament to strengthening democracy within the EU;
- Citizens' demands and their levels of (dis)contentement with the European Union, along with their relationship to democracy;
- Progress on the outcomes of the Conference on the Future of Europe regarding institutional issues and democracy in the EU;
- Analysis of competencies, governance challenges, and results related to specific EU policies, including the Economic and Monetary Union, Cohesion Policy, Social Policy, Asylum Policy, and Neighbourhood Policy.
- Publication of scientific articles and a collective volume.
