Monitoring the professionals' satisfaction of Primary Health Care
Aims
This study aims to monitor the satisfaction of professionals in Personalized Health Care Units (UCSP), Family Health Units (USF), Public Health Units (USP) and Shared Care Resource Units (URAP) in mainland Portugal with their workplace and the services provided there. Physicians (excluding interns), nurses (excluding trainees), administrative staff (including clinical secretaries or technical assistants and excluding CEI) and technicians (including health technicians, senior technicians and TDT) were included.
Methods
After identifying the functional units and their coordinators, they were contacted and informed about the study that will be implemented through a questionnaire available on this website. To ensure that each professional can only answer once, that no one outside the target population can answer and, above all, to guarantee complete anonymity, a keyword was assigned to each professional.
This study assumes the conceptual model in the following figure.

Thus, following this conceptual model, in order to measure the satisfaction of the professionals of the units, it is assumed that there are determinants of this satisfaction and that these determinants are, in a certain way, grouped into sociodemographic and labor characteristics of the professionals. The sociodemographic data measured in this study include gender, age, educational level and family situation. Work characteristics include professional category, working hours, type of employment relationship, experience in coordination, management or leadership roles, and length of time in the unit and profession.
Professional satisfaction is measured through the dimensions 'workplace', 'services provided' and 'quality'. Satisfaction with the workplace addresses human resources policies, especially those of the ACeS management, morale, mood and relationship with the UF coordinator, and technological and financial resources, including salary, quality of the workplace and available equipment. On the other hand, satisfaction with the services provided by the FU includes aspects such as service, coordination of care, sensitivity, conditions of the facilities, information provided and the cost of services.
Finally, among the possible opinions and attitudes of the professionals, the adequacy of professional and academic training to perform the functions are addressed, if there is an alternative, would you recommend the services of your unit or would you resort to it and, finally, if you could go back, would you choose your unit to work and would you choose the same profession. Finally, you are asked to give an overall assessment of your level of satisfaction with your PSU.
