Public Health Units

Monitoring of professionals' satisfaction of the Public Health Units (2016)

Background

According to Decree-Law no. 28/2008, of February 22, the Public Health Units (USP) become part of the health center groupings (ACeS) as functional units.

According to its article 12, "the USP functions as a health observatory of the geodemographic area of the ACES in which it is integrated, being responsible, namely, for working out information and plans in public health areas, carrying out epidemiological surveillance, managing intervention programs in the scope of prevention, promotion and protection of the health of the population in general or of specific groups and collaborating, in accordance with the respective legislation, in the exercise of the functions of health authority".

Aim

This project aims to determine the satisfaction of professionals from all USP in Portugal.

Methods

The proposed system for monitoring and evaluating professional satisfaction is based on the Instrument for the Assessment of Professional Satisfaction (IASP) developed by CEISUC with the following conceptual model:

The various questionnaires designed to measure the satisfaction of PHU professionals follow methodological processes according to the respective objective and content of the analysis. Thus, all employees of the functional units of the ACeS will be hand-delivered a letter by the respective coordinators of the USP requesting their collaboration in filling out a job satisfaction questionnaire via the Internet and indicating the corresponding password.

Ethical Procedures

The response to the questionnaire will be anonymous and CEISUC itself will never know who has responded to the survey, let alone what each individual has answered. The password that is distributed to the professionals, and which CEISUC does not know to whom it was given, will not be associated with the computer record containing the answers.

As this questionnaire is anonymous, we guarantee the complete confidentiality of the data you provide. No one can ever be identified from the results of this study. In any case, to reinforce this, we have made the questions concerning personal data optional. However, we would still appreciate it if you could complete them.
