The BiotechSTARS – Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Program is a regional project aimed at promoting an entrepreneurial culture within the biotechnology business sector in the central region of Portugal. It achieves this through initiatives focused on ideation, capacity-building, and mentoring, specifically targeted at biotechnology entrepreneurs.

Presentation:

This project, led by CNC in partnership with Biocant Park and IATV, and supported by the University of Coimbra through UC Business, is co-funded by Centro 2020, Portugal 2020, and the European Social Fund.

The program consists of weekly sessions focused on how to design, test, validate, and communicate an innovative idea. Participants will have the opportunity to use tools and methodologies to take the first steps in transforming R&D projects into sustainable business ideas.

Information about the trainer:

Jean Baronet
Head of Programs at Territórios Criativos, Jean Baronet is an entrepreneurship specialist with over 15 years of experience in the field.
He holds a degree in International Relations, with a focus on Economic-Political studies. Baronet has served as coordinator, mentor, and trainer for entrepreneurship bootcamps, a judge in various young entrepreneurship competitions, and a speaker and moderator at numerous entrepreneurship conferences.

He is a mentor, trainer, and member of the management support team for the Alvaiázere+ business incubator and Startup Barreiro. He also serves as a guest lecturer in entrepreneurship at ISG (Instituto Superior de Gestão).

From 2009 to 2019, he was the Facilities Director at the DNA Cascais Municipal Incubator. Between 2005 and 2009, he worked as an advisor in the financial and human resources sectors and was an Information Manager at Banco Santander Totta from 2003 to 2005.
