Environmental Monitors Course in non-formal spaces
The Environmental Monitors Course took place between the 17th and 21st of July 2023 in non-formal spaces, which included a group of 22 students from the most varied areas.
This Course, which took place at the Center for Higher Studies of the University of Coimbra in Alcobaça and which was 100% financed by the PRR, sought to identify the environmental factors that affect the health and well-being of living beings in the environment, such as the quality of air, water, soil and food.
The main objectives of this training were:
1. Assess the presence of pollutants, such as gases, particles, chemicals and other contaminants that can affect human health or the health of animals living in the environment;
2. Measure the temperature, humidity, luminosity and other physical parameters of the environment that may affect the behavior and survival of the species that live there;
3. Monitor the biodiversity of the environment, identifying the species present, their distribution and abundance, and identifying possible threats to their conservation;
4. Develop and implement environmental conservation and restoration strategies, including actions to reduce pollution, restore degraded habitats and promote biodiversity;
5. Disseminate information about the importance of environmental conservation and actions that can be taken to reduce the human impact on the environment;
6. Monitor and evaluate the results of conservation and restoration actions, identifying opportunities for improvement and adjusting strategies as necessary;
7. Promote actions to communicate results, data and scientific knowledge gathered within the scope of training.
