Research Unit in Sport and Physical Activity

The Research Unit in Sport and Physical Activity (CIDAF) is the succedaneous unit of the Center of Biokinetic Studies (CEB) that had been created in 1996 as a multidisciplinary research unit. CIDAF adopts as a philosophy of action a multimethod perspective, oriented for the research of sport and physical activity while expression of human development and promotion of health, and benefits from a big diversity of academic and scientific specializations and the collaboration of researchers of other Faculties and research units of the University of Coimbra.
CEB was evaluated by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) for triennially financing and obtained the classification of "Very Good"
in
the area of Health Sciences obtaining support by the
program of re-equipment of Laboratories. From 2004 to 2008 was financed by the program of pluriannual financing.
In November of 2009, the research unit changed its name to Research Unit for Sport and Physical Activity (CIDAF-UC) so it could associate more effectively with the Laboratory of the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra. In November of 2020 the research unit changed its name to Research Unit in Sport and Physical Activity.
