Synopsis

I feel that, through this book, I can document one of the many ways of being an architect. For me, and certainly for many others, the pure practice of the profession has never been seen as separate from life, in a constant attempt to position myself within the vicissitudes of the century—as a citizen and as a teacher—with the inconsistencies and incompleteness that this ongoing and heterodox decentering inevitably entails in the various fields of intervention, all while remaining anchored in a kind of invisible structural fidelity.

Fidelity has never demanded a science, an aesthetics, or a theory from me. It has required the wholeness of being, a consciousness deeper than intelligence, a truth purer than the one I can control. It has been about coexisting with things, participating in reality, encountering voices and images. And I am not speaking of an ideal life, but of a concrete one—the resonance of streets, of cities, the shadow of walls, the breath of the night.

That is why I will speak of moments in time.
