Landscape Together is a European project funded by Creative Europe (medium-scale cooperation) that began in February 2023. It brings together 17 international partners (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and Belgium) in collaboration with a pilot territory in central Portugal.
Between 2023 and 2026, the Landscape Together project will foster dialogue between heritage and contemporary art in the pilot territory. This will be achieved through a transdisciplinary network of specialists working in Cultural Mediation, Environmental Development, Sustainable Design, Art Appropriation, and Communication. This evidence-based methodology will be deepened through workshops, exhibitions, and lectures held at strategic locations within the network (e.g., Paris, Berlin, San Sebastián, Milan, Brussels). Landscape Together is a unique project that seeks to provide innovative and concrete solutions to pressing issues: how can art and culture lead to sustainable, long-term solutions that contribute to the repopulation of rural territories and effectively address challenges related to the consequences of climate change?
The Landscape Together partners include Museo Chillida Leku (Spain), Regional Directorate of Culture of the Center (Portugal), Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (Applied Arts, Agronomy, and Education – Portugal), studio KHBT (Germany), Portuguese municipalities: Proença-a-Nova, Oleiros, Sertã, Pedrógão Grande, and Idanha-a-Nova, Politecnico di Milano (Department of Architecture, Italy), University of Coimbra (Department of Architecture, Portugal), Atelier Yok Yok (France), Time&Place Consulting (Belgium), and Turismo Centro de Portugal.
Landscape Together promotes cooperation and mobility for more than 90 European artists and their works, fostering engagement with communities and aiming to transform this experience into a replicable model. The LT Model will serve as a tool for other communities seeking to reclaim a sense of belonging to their place, landscape, and culture. This project is rooted in tested approaches through 16 interdisciplinary events, over 70 workshops, 8 cultural itineraries, 18 artist residencies, 2 permanent art pieces, 4 summer courses, 20 creative talks, 8 exhibitions across 6 countries, and the LT Model Toolkit.
Landscape Together combines the expertise of specialists and institutions in key areas for long-term territorial transformation anchored in its citizens: Cultural Mediation, tangible and intangible heritage, Artistic Creation, and Communication. In Cultural Mediation, it focuses on developing educational programs and activating projects that promote a fruitful integration of arts and landscapes, in partnership with the Museo Chillida Leku (Spain).
