Miguel Góis | Archiprix Award 2024
Miguel Góis, who holds a master's degree from DARQ, received the “Archiprix 2024 Award” (ex-aequo) / “National Award for the Teaching of Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape Architecture” on Saturday, June 22, in Porto Brandão (Almada), for his project “Identity and Atmospheres - Santa Cruz Monastery Museum Project”, which corresponds to his master's thesis in Architecture, defended in 2023, supervised by João Mendes Ribeiro and co-supervised by Rui Lobo, both DARQ professors.
The project develops a proposal for the installation of a museum for the collection of the former Santa Cruz Monastery, based on the concept of the UNESCO Historic Urban Landscape (2011) and the idea of rehabilitating the former monastic buildings and surrounding buildings (such as the former CTT building), re-formalizing the former Manga Cloister (around the Renaissance fountain by João de Ruão) and rebuilding a vertical reference element on the site of the former bell tower (demolished in 1935).
