Biografia

Rui Filipe Pinto studied architecture at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra and at ETSA, Madrid. In 2013, he graduated with a thesis titled Meaning and Emotion: Through the Work of Sigurd Lewerentz. He worked for several years with the studio Bakker & Blanc in Lausanne and with the atelier Conen Sigl in Zurich. Between 2015 and 2020, he taught at EPF Lausanne, initially with Marco Bakker & Alexandre Blanc, and later with Maria Conen and Raoul Sigl. In parallel, he was part of the Summer School Porto Academy, teaching annually with different architects until 2022. In 2020, he joined the Chair of Prof. Maria Conen, Architecture and Housing, at ETH Zurich, where he was responsible for diploma students. In 2023, he was a visiting professor at La Salle, Barcelona, where he taught a studio focused on the boundaries between private and public spaces, titled "ME, WE". He is currently a Guest Professor at the Department of Architecture, FCTUC - Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra. In 2021, he founded his own office, S T U D I O L O, a space where he develops projects and research between Portugal, Switzerland, and the world, with a strong focus on working with existing structures and renovation. Between 2018 and 2021, he conducted research on urban villas with architect Benoit Jacques, which was initially presented as an exhibition at the F'ar - Lausanne Architecture Forum and later published as a book titled Villa Urbaine/Urban Villa, by Birkhäuser. He is also a member of the Iberian Association for Heritage Preservation.
