Biografia
Valdemar Santos (Coimbra, 1962) graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto (1990), Higher Course in Fine Arts/Painting, and has a Master degree in Art History from the Lusíada University of Lisbon (2000) and a PhD in Contemporary Art (2016) from College of Arts of the University of Coimbra. He is Guest Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture of the University of Coimbra, where he teaches Drawing at the Bachelor and Master courses in Design and Multimedia, since 2021-2022. He began his activity as a secondary school teacher in 1998. He was a teacher at Escola Secundária Avelar Brotero, in Coimbra, having taught the subjects of Drawing and Arts Workshop and held various positions and activities, such as Disciplinary Group Delegate, Class Director, Teacher Evaluator, and National Exam Classifier. Within the scope of IAVE, he held the position of Trainer of Classifying Teachers for the national exams in Drawing for 3 years. He was a Professor at the Escola Universitária das Artes de Coimbra (EUAC), from 1990 to 2008, where he taught the subjects of Drawing and Ceramic Studio; and, for 7 years, at the Coimbra School of Arts, where he held the position of director of the Design and Ceramics course and taught the subjects of Drawing and Project/Workshop. Since 1992, he has held several solo exhibitions and participated in several collective exhibitions, nationally and internationally, for which he wrote for the respective catalogues. He is also the author of several publications.
